Is breastfeeding in public a mum's right?

LAST month, a nursing mother was thrown off a plane about to take off in Vermont because she refused to cover up while breastfeeding her daughter.

"I'm not doing anything wrong and I will not cover up," Emily Gillette said, after a flight attendant offered her a blanket to cover herself.

In protest against Gillette's treatment, nursing mums across the US are now staging rolling breastfeeding sit-ins at the airline's counters, causing a huge embarrassment for the company (Mums begin 'lactivism' after airline bans breastfeeding).

Gillette has filed a complaint claiming the airline, Delta, has violated a state law that allows women to breastfeed "in any place of public accommodation".

The airline said breastfeeding on a plane was OK, as long as it was done discreetly.
